What is a Vancouver Bankruptcy Trustee?

A trustee in bankruptcy is an individual who has been trained and registered with the federal government to assist in financial situations and administer proposal and bankruptcy processes. All trustees go through years of training and have the knowledge and skill needed to provide detailed information on solving financial issues.

Bankruptcy trustees are bound to a strict code of ethics and legally required to explain all debt relief and debt management options to you. The option that you choose to proceed with is always entirely up to you. Our trustees will never pressure you into choosing a particular solution.

The Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act of Canada (BIA) regulates bankruptcy and insolvency across the country. It also governs the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, which is the federal office that licenses and regulates bankruptcy trustees. The BIA also determines the fees for bankruptcy trustee services. This means that, not only are all administrative fees set and controlled, but there are no upfront fees and no cost for the initial consultation with one of our Vancouver bankruptcy trustees.

Only bankruptcy trustees can administer bankruptcy and proposal processes. These processes provide legal protection and, once these processes are underway, you are protected from contact by your unsecured creditors. This means that calls from collection agencies and creditors will stop, as will legal action and wage garnishment. This can be a huge relief.

If you’re dealing with frequent calls from creditors and don’t know how to make them stop, speaking with a licensed Vancouver trustee in bankruptcy can help. For more information on the services that we provide and details on how we can help your particular situation, please contact us today. We’ll be more than happy to speak with you and arrange for a free consultation with a member of our team.
